Equipment model; Anchor model; Killick
Scale: Unknown. A model of a half killick from Tobelo, Halmahera, Moluccas. The shank is made from wood circular in section and is slightly curved. At the crown is a curved and flat faced arm which has been attached using lashings made from leather straps forming a Y shaped profile. The wooden arm is further supported by another leather lashing to the shank. There is a roughly oval shaped granite stone at the top of the shank which is held in position by a series of criss-crossed rope lashings. There is a larger rope lashed between the shank and the arm possibly used to trip the anchor when foul which then runs up the shank and around the stone at the top. The shank finishes in a small shoulder at the top which is complete with a carved wooden eye to which a cable can be attached.
