Equipment model
Scale: Unknown. A model of a four-bladed propeller and a section of propeller shaft showing a method of connecting and disconnecting the propeller from the power source. The model has been made from light coloured wood, and the propeller blades have been secured to the box using rings ofbrass bolts. The model is mounted on four tall mahogany supports, slightly tapering, and secured to a rectangular mahogany baseboard. The propeller has been finely made, the boss being carved from a single piece of wood. The disengaging gear is formed of two large wooden discs secured together by a system of two- and four-winged bolts (four two-winged bolts missing). The propeller and apparatus can be rotated be turning a wooden handle at the end of the propeller shaft. By pulling the handle a section of shaft can be removed from the disengaging gear.Original size: 430 mm x 754 mm x 397 mm
