'Eva Montgomery' (1901)

Scale: 1:48. A half block model of a ship-rigged passenger cargo ship Eva Montgomery (1901). The model is made largely from wood with metal fittings. The hull is made in bread and butter construction, varnished in natural wood with the upper portion and bulwarks painted black with a thick white horizontal line, complete with 15 fake gunports. The black portion of the hull is fitted with nine circular portholes, two hawsepipe and a carved female figurehead with trailboard, finished in natural wood and varnished. The model is fitted with three wooden laid decks, the planks of which have been marked on in black ink and are finished in natural wood and varnish. Fixtures and fittings include three capstans, anchor with studded chains, bollards, stanchion rails, three stump masts and a bowsprit, three ventilator cowlings, three cargo hatches, and a pair of ship's boats (one missing) rigged in davits (three missing) along the boat deck (fittings loose and some missing). There are also three deck houses, fire buckets, two binacles, a ship's wheel with the ship's name inscribed on the wheel box. The whole model is mounted on a stained mahogany backboard and was fitted with a glazed display case which is now missing. On the starboard bow is inscribed "Eve Montgomery". A plaque is inscribed "Ship "Eva Montgomery" Built by Wm. Hamilton & Co., London Dimensions Length 258'0" Breadth 39'11" Depth 25'1 1/2" Class highest Lloyds Gross 1944.13 Underdeck 1791.36 Net register 1834.51".
