Frog mug

Lustreware frog mug, transfer-printed with an oval portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) facing left, flanked by red ensigns and naval trophies. A winged figure of Fame is placed above and ships are shown to the left and right of a grassy knoll. A moulded frog inside is painted brown and red. The mug is hand-coloured in red, yellow and green with splashes of pink lustre. 'TRAFALGAR' is inscribed above the portrait. 'The Briton mourn (sic) what else can Britons do/While Bleeding Nelson rises to her view./Still is there cause for Triumph when she shews/The captured colours of our Vanquished foes./And greater still when FAME was heard to say/All all were Nelsons on that glorious DAY.'
