Full hull model, 16-oar outrigger lifeboat, underside
A full hull model built at a scale of approximately 1:24 of a double-ended lifeboat proposed by Captain Marryat RN c.1820. It is designed to be rowed by 16 oars mounted on outriggers either side of the hull. It is built plank on frame with carvel construction, i.e. where the planks are butted together as opposed to overlapping clinker construction. Internally there are a number of gratings for the floors covering cork blocks for additional buoyancy.
