Full hull model, sailing lifeboat, port broadside
Scale: 1:6. Full hull model of a sailing lifeboat from about 1807. This early pulling and sailing lifeboat is fitted internally with large wooden barrels to increase its buoyancy. A single drop-keel was lowered by hand-crank when under sail. The clinker-built hull is fitted with scuppers below the wooden fender, to drain the decks when flooded with seawater.
