In the south polar area there are labels for nine regions, including for example, 'Supposed Southern continent', 'Emp. Peter I' and 'Graham Island'. Shipping routes are marked and labelled 'Steam Packet Route from Suez to Bombay'. Telegraph lines in the oceans are marked and labelled which connect Europe with North America and India with Malaya/China, and in Australia there is a line marked and labelled. A total of five oceans are named but the label for the South Pacific Ocean is lacking in this edition of the globe.
