Gun model; Field Gun
Scale: Unknown. Model of a breech-loading gun (1895), mounted on a field gun carriage. The gun, mounts and large spoked wheels with axle are made from lacquered brass and are secured to a rectangular wooden frame, the lower end of which is protected by a brass shoe. Sailor's work. This is one of a series of three models of naval guns (SLR2994 and SLR2996) said to have been made on board HMS 'Terrible' which took part in the relief of Ladysmith. All depict naval guns which were dismantled from the ship and taken across country by Admiral Limpus during the Boer War.
