HMS 'Codrington' (1929)
Scale: 1:96. A full hull model of the A-class destroyer 'Codrington' (1929), made entirely in wood with metal and organic material fittings and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted dark grey below the waterline, a broad black stripe above and black above the waterline. Hull details include intermittent portholes on two decks; bilge keels; two propellers; and balanced rudder. All superstructure fittings and equipment are painted a uniform light grey, identical to the upper hull. Fittings include a jackstaff at the bow; long foredeck accommodating two guns, one of which is mounted on the forward superstructure, main bridge and foremast; two funnels, similar in size and shape, the forward one having a black-painted top section and the rearward funnel painted with three horizontal black stripes and with a black cap; gun on a platform positioned between the funnels; mainmast with radio aerials and flying a pennant; and gun aft on a prominent platform. The model is mounted on a pair of turned wooden pillar supports and displayed in a wood-framed and glazed table-top display case.
