HMS 'Duncan' (1859)
Scale: 1:48. A model of the port side of HMS 'Duncan' (1859), a 101-gun warship made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull below the waterline is painted brown with a narrow cream stripe above, and black above the waterline. There are two broad white stripes running horizontally along the two gundecks and the main and poop decks are painted a uniform cream. The port quarter and stern galleries are shown. Fittings include channels, port, main and mizzen stumpmasts, three hawseholes, open gunports with red painted inner faces, a retracting funnel, and a stump bowsprit. The model is displayed on a cream backboard with a stained bevelled edge. The plaque is inscribed: 'Duncan - 101 guns - 1859 Built at Portsmouth. Renamed Pembroke in 1889 and became receiving ship at Chatham. Renamed Tenedos in 1905. Sold 1910 Dimensions Length 252ft Beam 58ft Speed 13 knots.'.
