HMS 'Pallas' (1865)

Scale: 1:48. A model of the port side of HMS 'Pallas' (1865), a corvette made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull below the waterline is painted brown with a narrow cream stripe above, and black above the waterline, and the single deck is painted cream. The bulwarks have two recessed areas to accommodate guns mounted on the deck below, each of which can fire in different directions. Fittings include stump fore, main and mizzen masts, a ram bow, gunports with red painted inner faces, and a stump bowsprit. The model is displayed on an off-white backboard with a stained bevelled edge. The plaque is inscribed: '257 Pallas armoured corvette 1865. A wooden hulled iron clad. Built at Woolwich. Ended sea-going service in 1879. Sold 1885 original armarment: - 2-7 in B.L. 4-7 in M.L. second armarment: - 2-7in and 25in B.L. 4-8in ML. final armarment 4-8in and 4-6in M.L. Dimensions: - length 225ft beam 50ft Displacement 3618 Tons speed 12 knots'.
