HMS 'Pantaloon' (1831)
Scale: 1:48. A contemporary half block model of HMS 'Pantaloon' (1831), a 10-gun brig. The hull is carved from a solid block of wood (?) and is painted a light metallic bronze colour ,with black topsides to the level of the gunwale and divided by a thin white line along the waterline. There are seven gunports let into the hull and fitted with six canon (modern). Between the top of the bulwarks and the gunports are two sets of channels rigged with chainplates and deadeyes. The bow is complete with headrails just aft of the full length figurehead and a cathead. There is a flat and angled stern gallery above the sternpost which is fitted with a rudder complete with gudgeons and pintles. The flush deck is fitted with two stump masts which are painted a creamy white colour. The whole model is mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard which is painted a creamy white colour surrounded by a stained moulded edging on which is inscribed "(8)" amidships under the keel.Original size: 175 mm x 692 mm x 100 mm
