HMS 'Warrior' (1860)
HMS 'Warrior' was not considered a ship of the line, but a frigate as she only had a single gun-deck. Ships were generally designated by the number of guns they carried. 'Warrior' carried just 42 guns, but they were the heaviest available. She had heavier guns than any other warship. She carried twenty-six 68-pounder guns, ten 110-pounders, four 40-pounder guns and two 20-pounders. Her thick armour and heavy guns meant that 'Warrior' was superior to any other warship afloat.
