House flag, Crusader Shipping Ltd
The house flag of Crusader Shipping Ltd, London. A black swallow-tailed pennant with a shield bearing the cross of St George on a gold sword. The flag is made of a machine sewn, wool and synthetic fibre bunting. The motif and the hoist are made of cotton fabric. The crusader's sword and shield in the design were intended by the company to symbolise the launch into a new trade route across the Pacific from New Zealand to the West Coast of USA.
