Knee former model
Scale: Unknown. Model of a former for bending timber into knees (1813). The model is made entirely of wood carved from a single block of stained and polished mahogangy, with three curved grooves, squarec in section, on either side into which the steamed timbers are set for forming. Each grooved section is held in place bysteel pins and only two out of the six are fitted with steamed timbers. Model complete with a hand written label which states "Models of Fomers for Knees Ect. for bending timber, Hookey, Woolwich Yard, 1813, REF Soc. of Arts Vol32 page 91 & Vol 38 Plate 26."
