Small trees are in the foreground and anchored in the bay, almost hidden by the trees, are the Royal Navy cruiser/minelayer Adventure (1924) and the tug St. Breock (1919). The photographer's ship, the aircraft carrier Eagle (1918), was present at Weihaiwei in the periods 3 june to 21 July 1927, 14 to 17 August 1937, 6 September to 7 October 1937, 8 June to 12 August 1938 and 20 August to 4 September 1938.
