Masula surf boat, port

Scale: circa 1:12. Contemporary full hull model of a Masula surf boat (circa 1890). Such vessels were used on India's east coast for transporting cargo or passengers from ship to shore, or for fishing. The sewn planks of the hull are constructed edge to edge or carvel fashion and caulked on the inside with oversewn coconut fibre rope. There is no keel and the stem and stern posts project below the flat bottom.
