Medal commemorating Admiral Edward Vernon (1684-1757) and the capture of Porto Bello, 1739. Obverse: Two full-length figures: Admiral Vernon (left), facing three-quarter right, sword in right hand, his left holding the right hand of Commodore Charles Brown, who faces three-quarter left. Between them: above, the Royal crown; below, a ship. Both figures wear hats. The words of the legend are placed in the spaces between portions of the figures and the edge. Reverse: View of the port. Six ships, placed two and four, latter in independent line, all sailing to right.
