Obverse: Bust of King Louis XIII, laureate, in a large ruff, armour and cloak (right). Legend: 'LVDOVIC . XIII REX CHRISTIANISS . PIVS IVSTVS FEL . AVG . CICICCXXVII.' (Louis XIII, the most Christian king, pious, just, prosperous, August 1627.) Reverse: The king standing on a rostral column with a pile of arms, the fleet in the distance. Legend: 'VICTIS FVSIS FVGATIS TERRA MARIQ . ANGLIS.' (The English defeated, dispersed and put to flight by land and sea.)
