Medal commemorating the combined action in the Java Sea 1942-52. Obverse: The forward part of a cruiser sinking, overwhelmed by a gigantic wave; the sea in distance. Reverse: Port broadside view of a cruiser under way, with a background of four flags with their staffs- two British ensigns, the stars and stripes and the Dutch ensign.
