Medal commemorating the Gallipoli campaign. Obverse: Within a band (right) shaped like the Turkish crescent moon, a Highlander carrying a model of a steamer; below, a French soldier on one knee firing a rifle, inscription (left). Inscription (in the field, left): 'DIE MONDSVCHTIGEN . AUF GALLIPOLI.' (The lunatics at Gallipoli.) Reverse: Two skeletons lying in the trenches, barbed wire entanglements fading into the distance (right), crescent and star above (the fate of the French and British soldier shown on the obverse.)
