ERECTED UNDER THE SUPERINTENDANCE OF WILLIAM STUART. C. E. COMPLETED 1844.' Exergue: 'DESIGNED BY WALKER ; BURGESS ENGINEERS.' Reverse: Inscription, divided by a plan of the breakwater, 'COMMENCED UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE ADMIRALTY 12TH AUGT. 1812 LENGTH 7,100 FEET. STONE DEPOSITED 3, 638,646 TONS. COST
