Model of destroyer HMS 'Boyne' (1904)

Scale: 1:32. A model of warship HMS 'Boyne' (1904) made in wood with plated metal fittings. The hull is carved from a solid piece of wood and painted in realistic colours. Below the waterline the hull, bilge keels, rudder, and propeller shaft and housing are painted pink whilst the hull above the waterline is painted pale grey. There are draft marks on the port and starboard bows and propeller shaft support as well as three rows of portholes, two at the bow and a third row toward the stern. The high foredeck includes a stowed pair of anchors, a wave deflector, a gun on a circular swivel mount, two additional small guns, and a bridge with an open deck which incorporates a wheel, binnacle, compass, and two telegraphs. There are two short bridge wings with port and starboard navigation lights and a circular platform with a shutter telegraph and signalling lamp. The main deck accommodates two short lozenge shaped funnels, both painted black with a torpedo launcher between them. Other fittings on the main deck include a mainmast, three collapsible boats, two small guns, a larger gun at the stern, a pinnace, a gig on davits, and a companion ladder rigged to the port quarter. There are also four large silver plated ventilators, and two small copper plated ventilators, all with red inserts, as well as a second torpedo launcher towards the stern. On the port and starboard stern quarters is 'Boyne'. The model is displayed on two turned supports and two stabiliser supports, all patinated a gunmetal finish.
