Mount William, Falkland Islands, May 1849

Mounted in album with PAI4605-PAI4610, PAI4612-PAI4670.; No.6. Two sections stuck together. No. 6 in Fanshawe's Pacific album, 1849-1852. A fold-out panoramic drawing, on two sheets, the right one stuck down to the album page, and captioned by the artist below the image, as title. A view roughly west from behind Port Stanley across the flank of Mount William towards modern Darwin. The stone cattle or sheep pen and the horsemen are both standing on what is approximately the line of the modern Stanley to Darwin road. One of three drawings by Fanshawe recording his call at the Falklands, 21-27 May 1849 in the 'Daphne', bound for Valparaiso. The others are PAI4609 and PAI4610.
