N E View of York
Vignette. This print is signed and dated 1821 by the artist, though the lithograph copies are likely to date from sometime later. The print shows a North-East view of the city of York. The only obvious connection between the Herschels and York that might explain the existence of this print in the Herschel collection is that John FW Herschel attended the founding meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BAAS) in York in 1831.
