'Non Pareil' (1805)

Scale: 1:48. A contemporary half block model of the 'Non Pareil' (1805), a 12-gun schooner. The hull is carved form a solid block of wood(?) and is painted a metallic copper colour below the main wales separated by a thin white line along the waterline. The topsides are painted black with the bulwarks finished in a creamy white and pierced for eight-guns. The long and raking clipper bow, fitted with a stump bowsprit above, runs aft into the flat and angled keel. The upper deck is flush and fitted with two stump masts raked aft and painted an off white colour. There is a small flat and angled transom stern below which is a rudder complete with gudgeons and pintles. The whole model is mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard which is painted a creamy white surrounded by a stained moulded edging. The number "(18)" is painted in white on the lower backboard edge amidships.
