Ordnance model; Gun carriage model
Scale approx: 1:12. A contemporary model of a sliding and pivoting gun carriage. The carriage is made from several wooden parts which have been painted black and are complete with iron fastenings for construction as well as use. There is a large, iron, sliding bar with a forged eye at one end where it would attach to the ship's side and would pivot. There is a raised fitting with a locating pin on the top of the bar, presumably to attach to the gun, which is missing. Running through the carriage from left to right is a threaded iron bolt with a head drilled to take bars for turning and the adjustment for the slide. On the underside of the carriage are wooden fittings that would suggest the position of an axle and two wheels. It is also stamped on the underside with the Military Academy mark and the number "6601".
Original size: 113 mm x 404 mm x 145 mm
