Image information
Our Foc's'le', 'Olivebank
Like John Everett, Muncaster used his experience of being at sea to depict life on board sailing ships. This drawing, made at sea, was reproduced as an illustration in Muncaster's book, 'Rolling round the Horn' (1933), with the title 'Our Fo'c'sle', and accompanied by text describing fo'c'sle life. The artist later became a lieutenant commander in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and an adviser on camouflage. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and became President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists.
