Oval side ring hilted sword
Oval side ring hilted sword, which belonged to Vice-Admiral Walter Locke (1757-1835). The hilt of the sword consists of a ribbed silver-gilt olive-shaped pommel, a quillon with a rounded end, and a silver-gilt knuckle guard with one curved outward bar. The guard is hallmarked. The grip is bound with very fine and closely wound silver-gilt wire overlaid with alternate plain and plaited heavier silver wire.
