Pearl battil on the al-Khobar shore
Boats were laid up at all the old pearling centres on the Saudi Arabian coast (al-Jubail, al-Qatif, Darin and la-Khobar). It was at al-Khobar that Villiers photographed this, the last surviving battil, hauled up on shore.
