Cannon barrel boxlock pistol. The stock is made of walnut and is slab sided with a round butt. The pistol has a steel trigger with a backward curl and a broad steel trigger guard. There is also a percussion boxlock whilst the cannon barrel is smoothbore and is made to unscrew by means of a rectangular lug underneath. The calibre is 0.38in. The pistol is inscribed on the lock with the words 'PARKHOUSE TAUNTON', and the barrel bears Birmingham proof marks post 1813. Together with the pistol there is a box of primers marked with the words '100 PREMIUM PRIMERS SUITABLE FOR CENTRAL FIRE CARTRIDGES'. There is an undocumented attribution of the pistol to Admiral Thomas Masterman Hardy.
