Planisphaerium terrestre sive terrarum orbis
Image information
Planisphaerium terrestre sive terrarum orbis
This is a double hemisphere map with, around the edge, eight small planispheres on various projections and four diagrams explaining the projections. It has been suggested that Allard's map was one of the earliest departures from the seventeenth century Dutch cartographic tradition, being stripped of the allegorical scenes common in the borders of many contemporary world maps.
