Portrait of 'Prins te Paard'

A port-quarter view portrait of the 'Prins te Paard', East Indiaman at Bergen 1665, usually called 'Jonge Prins'. On the tafferel, between two round ports, are a prancing horse regardant with the rider sounding a horn. The rest of the tafferel is bare. On the rail above is the arms of Amsterdam supported by two large lions. The decoration on the counter is indistinct. In the Boymans Museum, Rotterdam, there is a drawing in starboard-quarter view probably offset from the same original (298-1231).

This drawing was probably used in connection with a grisaille or with a painting of the action at Bergen, 2[OS]/ 12 August 1665.

A faint offset, not rubbed on the back and not in reverse. It is approximately dated by the subject.
