Portrait of the 'Britannia', 100 guns, built in 1682 and rebuilt in 1700

The hull of the 'Britannia' is drawn on a sheet of paper which has been pasted onto a larger sheet on which the masts and sails have been added. The drawing appears not to be based on an offset and is approximately dated by the upright anchor on the Admiralty flag. The 'Britannia', viewed from slightly before the starboard beam. Before the wind under fore and main topsails lowered half-mast; the fore course being clewed up. The Stuart royal standard is at the main and the Admiralty flag with crowned anchor is at the fore. The scene is possibly depicted off Dover as there is a high coastline in the right distance.
