Portrait of the 'Grace Harwar'
The 'Grace Harwar', port side, in full sail. The 'Grace Harwar' was a steel full-rigged ship of 1,749 tons gross register and 1,565 tons net. She was built by W. Hamilton and Co. at port Glasgow in 1889 for W. Montgomery of London. She was the last Cape Horn full-rigger in the Australian trade and was bound with grain for Falmouth for orders in 1929. It was a 138 day passage with Captain Svensson as her master, one death, the second mad driven mad, a shortage of food and an outbreak of scurvy.
