Powder case hinge
A relic of Sir John Franklin's last expedition 1845-1848. Iron fitting found by Lieutenant W.R. Hobson at an abandoned camp site at Cape Felix, King William Island on 25 May 1859 during the McClintock Search Expedition 1857-1859. Copper fitting: two small metal rods with hooks at each end twisted together, the hinge of the lid of a powder case.
