On each side, a full-length standing figure representing Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), holding a speaking trumpet in his left hand; his right arm is missing. A gun, anchor and flag are placed behind him, all enclosed in a laurel wreath with a starboard-quarter view of a ship on each side. The jug is painted in blue, yellow, ochre, green and brown. It has blue and ochre moulded swags around the neck and floral decoration around the neck and base. The rim is painted brown and the jug has a scroll handle with painted husk decoration.
