Presentation sword

Owned by Vice-Admiral Sir Samuel Hood (1762-1814). The silver gilt (or gold?) and enamel hilt has an oval pommel inset with enamel plaques. The reverse plaque is damaged but the on the obverse plaque is a trophy of flags and nautical items. The grip and guard are inset (obverse and reverse) with enamel plaques of trophies, and embossed with laurels.
