Prospect of Greenwich from the observatory at the top of the Hill ... distant views of London and the cours of the River Thames...
This view north-east over the Park, Greenwich Hospital and the Thames, with London in the left distance, is one of a pair; for the other see PAI7092. Both show the Queen Mary Court of the Hospital (under the right dome here) as complete, although it was only begun in 1735 and not finished until 1751. The top of the Observatory hill is shown as rugged, though figures are 'tumbling' on the lower right slope, and there is no evidence that the Queen's House ever had the in-swept railings shown on the Park side.
