Recreation vessel
Scale: 1:24. A contemporary half block model of a steam yacht circa 1897. The hull is carved from a single block of wood (?) and painted a metallic bronze colour below the waterline with a creamy white topsides above to the level of the deck. It has noticeable sheer with an almost vertical stem running down to a flat keel which finishes with at the skeg and stern frame. There is a single screw propeller just forward of the rudder, above which is an overhanging round counter stern. The bow is decorated around the hawse pipe and has a pair of port holes on either side. On deck there are a number of fittings including an ensign staff, ventilator cowling and steering wheel on the foredeck. There is a raised engine casing, with five portholes on either side,which is painted a dark brown with a cream coloured funnel and steam pipe on top. At the stern is a glazed aftercabin with a cream roof, finished in natural wood and varnished. The whole model is mounted on a rectangular wooden backboard painted a sky blue with a raised and moulded frame. It is inscribed "Dimensions Length 60' 00" Breadth 10' 9" Depth 5' 5" Draught 4' 3" Displacement 17 tons.", "Screw yacht for the service of H.M. Embassy at Constantinople, By the Thames Iron Works & Shipbuilding Company, London. 1897" and "Engines Compd-Surf-Cylinder 9 1/2 x 19" x 10" T.I.W Water T. Boilers Horse Power 363 Speed 15 1/2 Knots".

Delivery to the UK is £10 for a single framed print.
