A crowded scene of English and Dutch ships, yachts and boats at anchor off Amsterdam. In the centre middle distance, a States yacht flying English Union flags at the masthead, peak and ensign staff. This is probably the yacht offered to Charles II by the town of Amsterdam and named by him the 'Mary'; it left Holland in August 1660. On the left, are a kaag and smalschip with a spritsail yacht beyond. There are also a number of boeier and other yachts. In the background are two large ships with English Union flags at the main, and several Dutch ships. In the distance are the towers of the Wester Kerk on the right and of the Oude Kerk on the left.
