RMS 'Viceroy of India' (1928); Passenger vessel

Scale: Unknown. A waterline model of RMS 'Viceroy of India' (1928). The hull painted is black with brick red at the waterline and a fine white stripe at deck level running the entire length of the ship. The decks are painted a uniform off-white with pale brown cargo hatch covers. The forecastle has a derrick mast and a small cargo hatch forward of it. The forward cargo deck has a single hatch served by a pair of derricks aft of it. The main deck also has a single hatch and, aft of it, the main superstructure that extends the majority of the length of the ship. The open bridge has integrated bridge wings and an open pilot house atop. The main promenade deck runs the length of the superstructure and extends to the stern. At the stern there is a shelter deck below it. An upper promenade deck extends the length of the superstructure. Above this deck, the boat deck has eight pairs of lifeboats, all stowed on davits. Between them are two funnels, elliptical in section, painted black in P&O house colours. There are also four large ventilators, painted black and six smaller ventilators, painted pale brown. The aft deck has what appears to be four small hatches, inline, with a derrick mast placed between the second and third hatches. There is a raised poop deck devoid of fittings. Inscribed on the base of model is "156".
