Roman jumble to the life. Staircase of uninteresting church of S. Dominico & S. Silvesto. Corner of Villa Aldobrandini with statues, in the garden of which are the trees - (pine, orange & eucalyptus)
Although undated this drawing of the 'staircase of the church of S. Domenico ; S. Silvestro and Villa, Rome' was probably done by Matilda Rose on the same trip to Italy as other drawings in this collection, which would give it a date of around April 1873. Children of upper middle class English families were often sent on trips around Italy in the 19th century to learn about art and practice sketching.
