Royal Naval uniform: possibly pattern 1929
Monkey jacket belonging to Edward Napier Green (b. 1903) for a Commander, Engineering Branch, as indicated by the purple cloth between the three gold-lace stripes on the sleeves. The coat also features four medal ribbons sewn to the jacket. These include the 1939-1945 Star, granted for service in operations from 3 September 1939 to 15 August 1945; the Atlantic Star, commemorating the Battle of the Atlantic and designed as a symbol of service in the Atlantic; the Defence Medal, granted for three years' service at home or six months' overseas in territories subjected to air attacks; and the War Medal, 1939-1945, which was awarded to full-time personnel of the Armed Forces.
