Seal impression
Oval pink wax seal impression. The seal impression has a gilt border and is contained within a turned wooden box. A label on the inside of the box lid bears the inscription 'ARIADNE, INTAGLIO. In the collection of Mr Findlay THE CABINET, Bath'. The seal impression is thought to have been presented to Admiral Sir Joseph Nias, (1793-1879). Impressions like these were sold with seals so the purchaser could see the positive image the seal would produce.
