Sectional model

Scale: Unknown. A large scale working model of a chain nipper, complete with a metal lined scupper, the whole of which is mounted on a stained and polished baseboard with an angled square end locating the scupper, and a rounded vertical end with a hole drilled through to lead the chain through to the windlass. The model has been inscribed by hand "KILNER'S PATENT" along with other illegible hand-written notes. Running from the scupper is a curved raised wooden channel through which a brass nipper shackle pivots. At the other end is a similar shaped shackle nipper which has been chained to the vertical rounded end of the model. The model illustrates two different patents of nipper and it is uncertain whether one or both was designed by Kilner.

On the underside of the model "PATENT... JOHN. MEALING. WHOLESALE MANUFACTURER. CHESTER No" is stamped.

Original size: 106 mm x 517 mm x 115 mm
