Sectional model

Scale: Unknown. Sectional model depicting the midship gun deck of HMS 'Liberty' (1850), a 16 gun brig. The model is carved from a solid piece of wood. The individual deck planks, beams and hull planking have been inscribed on either end of the model and highlighted in black ink. The exterior of the hull is painted black and white horizontally, with planking inscribed. The interior is painted white with the rest of the model varnished. There is a single gun port with a working half gun port lid, below which is a smaller opening, the purpose of which is not known. Either side of the gun port are four ring bolts to which the working tackle of the gun would have been attached. Both the lid and the lower flap are painted red internally. The model inscribed "N.M.10006".; "No 5 DIV A CLASS 7".
