Sectional model of HMS 'Myrmidon' (1867)

Scale: 1:12. Sectional model showing the method of connecting iron beams adopted for the construction of HMS Myrmidon (1867), designed as a wooden screw gun boat and completed as a survey vessel. The model has been made in wood and varnished and is mounted onto a bevelled wooden baseboard. It is incomplete as the parts representing the deck beams are missing. The baseboard has two paper labels applied to it, a mounted exhibition catalogue entry and a catalogue number "1920-346-c" painted on it. A paper label marked '18' has been applied to the inner face of the hull. The underside of the base is inscribed "H4", "Myrmidon scale 1 inch equals 1 foot Upper deck" and "865". Number "18" on model. Label reads "No.11. Case Cumb'l'd Room (18)".
