Shipping in Greenwich Reach
A view of the Royal Naval College from the north-east, with the waterfront to the east (left) round the Trafalgar Tavern and Moss's Wharf crowded with boats around a river-level awning. There was a public boat-hire business and rowing club there (as the Curlew Rowing club still is). The main vessels in the group of shipping moored or under way on the right are a steam tug, a topsail schooner and two Thames barges. It appears to be a summer early evening view with the sun still fairly high through the haze in the west, creating reflective glare off the water.
