Situation of the Honble East India Compys Ship Warren Hastings...and the French Frigate La Piemontaise.. on June 21st, 1806... after the Action

Post-action scene of two badly damaged ships, both in port broadside view, surrounded by the flotsam of the battle and against the setting sun. On the left, the French Piemontaise, flying the French flag at her stern, has lost the upper parts of her mainmast and her remaining sails are holed badly. The ship on the right of the picture is in a worse state, with only her mainmast standing. This is the East India Company’s ship, Warren Hastings, which was captured by Piedmontaise on 21st June 1806 in the Indian Ocean and taken to Mauritius.
